How long are sessions?

Sessions are scheduled for:

60 minutes (50-minute session, 10-minute notes)

90 minutes (80-minute session, 10-minute notes)

I recommend that family sessions schedule at least a 90-minute session, as it is beneficial when more than one person is in the room.

I will be able to schedule a longer family session for intense sessions as needed.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not bill insurance directly and am considered an “out of network” therapist.

There are a variety of reasons for this, including protecting your privacy, freedom from declaring a diagnosis, and ease of scheduling.

However, many of my clients receive reimbursement from their insurance company, dependent on their plan.

What if I can’t afford your rate?

I have access to several excellent, more affordable referrals for you to consider and am more than happy to provide these to you when you call.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions that are not cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment will be charged the full session rate.

Do you work with other treatment providers?

In the initial session, I will ask you if there are any other providers to whom I need to communicate. (This can be any other professional psychiatrist, former therapist, physician, etc.).

If you would like me to share information or obtain information from them, you can complete a Release of Information form that allows me talk with them.

How long before I get better?

The healing process is different for everyone.

It is important to know that healing takes time, can be painful to repair, and takes active and consistent work to see progress.

Some people have an “a-ha” moment that allows them to feel better about certain things more quickly, and others report feeling improvement over time as therapy progresses.

What types of “therapy” do you do?

Each session can be structured or unstructured based on the severity of the issue presented at the beginning.

With clients, I usually use a person-centered (client-driven) and solution-focused (focused on the desired changes head on) approach, involving CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). CBT is a short-term therapy technique that can help people find new ways to behave by changing their thought patterns.

What are you favorite guilty pleasures?

I love pizza. No matter the time of day, it is by far my favorite food.

Eating snacks while tucked in my bed.

Watching medical dramas… again and again.
